We should pay at least as much attention to where our minds are as to what our bodies are doing.” Above is a quote from Harvard researcher Matthew Killingsworth that appears in the book Full Catastrophe Living. Author Jon Kabat-Zinn follows up by saying that what we ought to be asking ourselves in our daily planning is, “What am I going to do with my mind today?” Take a moment to ask yourself that question, Subscriber First Name. In a fast-paced world of non-stop news and social media, practicing yoga can be an opportunity to regrow our attention span if we choose to engage on the mat with our full mind-body-heart. This week’s yoga is a gentle 35-min practice that focuses on feeling our feet on the earth—noticing what sensations arise in the present moment, and allowing that to ground us mentally, physically, and emotionally.
